these were one blog but i decided to divide :)
valentines day is less than a month away. of course silly me didn't realize this until i was talking to my sister and she had informed me that she already had her plans. I realize there are a lot of people who think valentines day is just another day thought up by greeting card companies to make money. I can't dispute or support who made the holiday up but I can say that those who have nothing better to do than complain about valentines day are just cynical. I don't say that meaning cynical about being single because I know plenty of single people who have no problem with valentines day. I mean cynical because things didn't go their way in life. Valentines Day to me is either celebrating your love with the person you're with or celebrating being single. There's no rule that says you have to be happy and in love to enjoy valentines day. I spent my last two Valentine's Days with two wonderful woman. We got dressed up, treated ourselves to dinner and went out for drinks and I had an amazing time. Not once did I take a shot saying "fuck valentine's day" i took many shots dedicated to "being single and happy". My point is you make everything what it is. If you want to miserable and self loathing about being single then of course valentine's day is just a bullshit day that people make money off of. Being happy with where your life is and how you're living it will make Valentine's Day a day to celebrate where you are in life and how happy you are living it.
Valentine's day has also brought up another thought into my busy little head. What am I doing for Valentine's Day?! I have spent almost every Valentine's Day being the boy. I don't want to sound sexist, but you normally don't expect the girl to decorate the hotel room, cook dinner, pay for everything and make sure everything is set so all the boy has to do is show up. It's honestly a little pathetic...but then again so was my relationship. So this year, I have who literally told me all i have to do is show up and it makes me a little nervous. I like to be in control of things, and although I haven't been disappointed with him AT ALL it's weird to not be in control of what's going to happen that day. I know it will be fantastic....after all he got me the best birthday present and i only mentioned it once.
So to all those cynics out there, lighten up. There are millions of things to be angry about that actually matter. Don't get so stressed out over one 24 hour period. Instead get dressed up, treat yourself and friends to a fancy dinner and go out and have fun. You'd be surprised how many other people are out there doing the same thing and how much fun you can have BEING SINGLE ON FEBRUARY 14th. Crazy right?!
peace&love
clarification of this song. this is just a little motivation for those who are hating valentines day :)
