Lets take some pictures!!

(picture I took this past summer in Cooperstown)

I have been saying for a while that I want to start taking pictures again, and I SWEAR I will start doing that. This semester I'm taking a class that explores photography from 1970-present. I've only had the class twice but so far it's pretty interesting. There was one photographer that really caught my eye. His name was Richard Avedon. He was a fashion photographer which isn't really my style, but he did this book called "In the American West" and I thought the pictures were fantastic. They were so simple yet so powerful. Just a simple white backdrop and subjects he found on the street. I'll put some of his pictures up here.

Anyway while I was sitting in this class I realized that there has got to be places to take pictures in Albany. I admit finding things to take pictures of in Cooperstown was easy because there were so many beautiful places...it's taking a little more effort to find those places here. I have attempted to get Edward to pose for me a few times, but most of the pictures don't come out the way I'd like them to.

He did take me to this park,Thacher Park, which might I add is not very accesable in the winter. I took some pictures but I definitley want to go back there once the snow melts and take tons more. I think this place may be exactly what I'm looking for. I can't wait. I've began counting down the days until spring. There's so much that will be going on here once the snow melts and I can't wait. Edward and I were talking about it while we were at dinner tonight. Festivals, cook outs, camping...oh my god my toes are curling just talking about it.

Don't get me wrong I love the winter, but the photographer part of my head is kind over it, because there's not much to photograph or do when it snows in Albany. So that's another thing on my list of things to do this year. Take more pictures.

Here are some pictures from the park we went to, it's called Thatcher Park. Oh and of course the one or two pictures I actually liked that I took of Edward. Enjoy :)

Sunset at Thacher Park
This one was taken while driving so it's a little blurry. Edward's angry face. I love this picture.
